“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” -Ecclesiastes 3:1

Ecclesiastes was most likely written by Solomon with the intent of teaching people about the importance of wisdom. He wanted people to learn how to learn.

Over the last 18 months, there has been a good pull here at GRIDSMART of learning to learn (attainment of wisdom). This recurring melody has run through the Company from the Field Application Engineering (FAE) program launching to INTERSECT18 being dedicated to training our peers.

I also believe that Solomon was telling us that things change. 2019 began with a season of change for GRIDSMART as we moved to our new home with Cubic Corporation. Solomon wrote about the journey of life, how many things are out of our control, and how our decisions influence all things. GRIDSMART becoming part of Cubic is quite intentional. This is a home where GRIDSMART values will flourish AND our solutions fit into an important strategy.

Take a read of Matt Cole’s NextCity™ article to learn about the visionary strategy executed by Cubic through the “One Account” pillar, and how Matt will expand that into a “One Integrated Customer Experience” aimed not only to be a market leader, but to enrich the customer experience. Sounds a lot like the GRIDSMART vision to “Improve One Billion Lives Through Intelligence,” doesn’t it?

It is a new season at GRIDSMART. A season where we continue to deliver GRIDSMART GRIT in products and services, where we become part of Cubic’s NextCity to serve smart communities of all sizes, and where we continue to work daily to deliver Simple, Flexible, and Transparent solutions to you.

This is a season of enriched potential as GRIDSMART grows as part of the Cubic Transportation System (CTS) solution, getting access to the amazing human talent at CTS. A season where we leverage and learn from how CTS serves 16 million active accounts while managing 400,000 monthly phone calls; where we tap into a legacy of inspirational innovation, such as the Geodetic Sequential Collation of Range satellite used to remap the earth in 1960 and the first Top Gun instrumented air combat training system.

We chose wisely and will never stop in our commitments to you. Solomon prepared us for change in Ecclesiastes, but perhaps Geddy Lee said it best in his song, Tom Sawyer: “He knows changes aren’t permanent. But change is.” Change is good. Solomon encourages us in Ecclesiastes to seize the favorable opportunity for every good purpose and work. I believe GRIDSMART has done just that with Cubic.

Thank you for all you do. We cannot wait to see what you do next with GRIDSMART products from Cubic.
