GRIDSMART Enables Secure Image Sharing

First published in ITS World Congress 2015 Daily News

GRIDSMART Technologies has launched Atlas, a web-based software platform that allows traffic departments to securely share imagery from GRIDSMART systems and other IP cameras with outside entities.

“GRIDSMART ATLAS optimizes taxpayer dollars by deploying one product that can be utilized by various city entities,” said Dr Jeff Price, Chief of Technology.

ATLAS delivers a dynamic, time-lapse video loop, allowing users to quickly capture an overview of traffic, then share it.

As ATLAS is accessed from any standard compliant web browser, there is no need for special software or applications. It displays correctly from multiple devices, including wall displays, desktops, tablets or mobile phones.

GRIDSMART Technologies demonstrates GS2 processor

ITS WC Day1 P5 Gridsmart Lauren Jochum gs2

GRIDSMART Technologies is here at the ITS World Congress to unveil a major new advancement for the world’s only single camera product for intersection actuation, data collection and situational awareness.

Visitors here in Bordeaux will get an exclusive opportunity to experience the GRIDSMART GS2, a powerful new 1-U processor, before it is released in 2016.

The GS2 adheres to the company philosophy of founder and CEO Bill Malkes – that everything about us should be simple, flexible and transparent.

“We believe your system should work for you and not the other way around,” says Malkes. “This is why we are control freaks in driving complexity from everything. GRIDSMART is installed in three hours or less, it is learned in 30 minutes. Why should anyone have to work to use a product they bought?” he adds. GRIDSMART uses a single camera with an ultra-wide angle lens to track all movement in its field of view, which allows for realtime management of intersections, including detecting cars, trucks, bicycles and pedestrians while recording turning movements, vehicle counts, and vehicle lengths. The system can even detect pedestrians or cyclists moving through crosswalks.

The GS2, which is field repairable without the need for tools, has been reduced in size by two-thirds from the original GRIDSMART Processor. It sports multiple USB 3.0 expansion ports for flexibility, and the intuitive LED front panel displays calls and light states for ultimate transparency. Another new addition to GS2 is a built-in Wi-Fi connection or a standard Ethernet connection.

GRIDSMART 6.0 Released

GRIDSMART 6.0 is now available! We are excited to announce new features in 6.0, including the launch of Performance and Performance Plus and new report types.

  • The new Performance Module replaces the Counts and Realtime Data Modules. The Performance Module enables historical reporting on performance-related data that was previously only available for the last hour through the Realtime Data API.
  • New report types are available with the Performance Module, with more types to come in iterative releases. These new report types currently include multi-day aggregation, by sum or average, on volume and turning movement reports, as well as red and green occupancy.
  • The Sites Homepage now offers a lightweight view that collapses Site Cards to just text and network reachability status. This view can significantly improve Client performance on the Sites Homepage for customers with fast connections to dozens of sites.
  • The Client will now let you know when there is an update available on GRIDSMART Cloud with a notification and an Update button on the Sites Homepage.

6.0 also includes improvements to existing features, including:

  • Adding a module license to a system has been significantly streamlined. Laptop and Publish no longer required. Now all you need to do is put the license file(s) at the root level of a USB stick and insert that stick into the Processor(s).
  • Streamlined the UI so that you can see more image and less interface until you need it.
  • Added a 5 minute reporting interval so you can generate more fine-grained reports on your data.

For a full list of new features and improvements, please visit the Changelog. GRIDSMART 6.0.is available for download here.

We always welcome customer input, so please feel free to share your thoughts about 6.0!
