Following a discussion with transportation representatives across the country, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero announced Wednesday that the city will move forward with its research to become America’s newest connected and self-driving vehicle test-bed by establishing a working group of city staff and regional partners to look further into both the advantages and disadvantages.

Noting the area’s history of innovation, four-season climate and overall geographical appeal, Rogero said the city would be the perfect environment for America’s next connected-vehicle test-bed.
