Traffic Professionals Gather at INTERSECT

On October 27-29, our team hosted more than 75 traffic professionals from around the world at our headquarters in Knoxville for INTERSECT15. We are thrilled to share that we hosted attendees from across the United States and also welcomed international guests from Turkey, Western Europe, Brazil, Thailand, Canada, and Oman.

Our goal with INTERSECT was to bring professionals together for an exchange of ideas, case studies, and successes regarding transportation technology. Our speaker lineup included 11 different users demonstrating how they apply their own creativity in leveraging the most simple and flexible traffic control system in the world. It was a great way to showcase that the GRIDSMART System is truly designed for cities of all sizes.

We also took the opportunity to focus on technical training from our sales team, technical support staff, and engineers on the latest versions of GRIDSMART hardware and software. GRIDSMART has invested more than six figures in perfecting the most advanced hardware in a traffic cabinet.

ATLAS was also a big focus at INTERSECT as it was the first opportunity many attendees had to learn exactly how ATLAS is able to empower traffic departments to securely share imagery. Nelson Melendez, C.E.T., Traffic Signals, City of Hamilton, Ontario, gave an overview of how Hamilton used ATLAS during the PanAm Games to monitor and control the fans’ travel experiences.

We also had fun showcasing the great city of Knoxville! Mayor Tim Burchett welcomed attendees personally to Knoxville and fit in perfectly when he arrived wearing a Carhartt jacket.

October is beautiful in the Smoky Mountains, so we kicked off the week with a hike to Chimney Tops Trail. It ended up being a rainy day, but it didn’t stop our group from making the four mile loop.

You can’t come to Knoxville without a visit to Neyland Stadium, so Tuesday ended with a dinner at the home of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Go Vols!

We also went to another famous Knoxville landmark, Club LeConte, and welcomed John Ellis, Global Technologies and Head of Ford Developer Program, for a keynote speech.

It was incredible to have so many partners at our headquarters and we are already looking forward to next year’s event. Thank you to each of you that made the journey to Knoxville!
